A Film on P. K. NAIR
Shivendra has produced and directed a feature length documentary titled “Celluloid Man”. The film is a tribute to Mr. P.K. Nair, an extraordinary man who built the National Film Archive of India can by can in a country where film archiving and restoration is completely disregarded. The film explores the early history of Indian cinema and highlights the importance of preserving our film heritage before it is
too late.
The film premiered at the Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival in Bologna, Italy in June 2012 and has been screened at nearly fifty film festivals both in India and abroad.
Celluloid Man won two National Awards at the 60th National Film Awards in 2013. It also won the “Nestor the Chronicler” award at the Kyiv International Documentary Film Festival. Shivendra has been conferred with the Bimal Roy Emerging Talent Award for Celluloid Man.
